Ciaran is married to Marie, and together they have three children – Erin, Rhea and Pauric. They live in Co. Donegal in the North-Western corner of Ireland. Their young son Pauric was diagnosed with BBS in June 2021 at 15 months old.
They attended their first BBS UK conference in 2023 and Ciaran was invited to speak on behalf of their family.
Ciaran shared his personal perspective as a parent of a child with BBS, how he and his wife struggled to initially deal with and accept the diagnosis, how they have dealt with the challenges experienced to date, and their anxiety for the years ahead.
He also discussed his family’s involvement in establishing & progressing the first regional BBS group in Ireland, as well as supporting the hugely successful ‘We Carry the Gene’ fundraising campaign through the island of Ireland.
